Dr. King continues to inspire...

Today is Martin Luther King Jr. day and social networks all over the web have been posting several of his quotes. Its great to see his legacy is still inspiring others. I had the day of from my internship today but I wanted to do something to honor Dr. King. So I attended a unity event in Brooklyn sponsored by the Occupy Sunset Park folks and it was in a church. I didn't stay very long but I was glad I went. It was great to hear people voice their concerns about the Occupy Movement going on. There hasn't been much talk about it lately but like all movements we probably won't see the fruits of it until years later. In the meantime I pray that the people continue to gather and stand up for their rights the way Dr. King did in such a major inspirational and courageous way.

hello, thank you for this, and the rest of your beautiful posts. i found your blog through fordham university's graduate school of religion and religious education blog. i hope you don't mind my reading your posts. pero, i've been looking for a blog like yours for quite some time. faith isn't an easy thing to discuss amongst my peers at least not in a way in which we share similar feelings about it. furthermore, there is a lack of dialogue in regards to the intersection of faith, politics, culture, social justice and our day to day lives. i think i found it in your blog from your friend who painted her co-workers nails to your joining the lay ministry at your parish. i'm sorry if comment didn't make sense and was full of run-on sentences; i just wanted to say: thank you for being so genuine and sincere.

Hi Tina..thanks for taking the time to read my blog..I am really glad you enjoyed it. Of course I don't mind you reading my post. Thank you for responding and also being so true and sincere. I know what you mean about faith not being an easy thing to discuss with folks but I always believe that just by being who you are says a lot about your faith. Your comment made total sense to me and its funny you mentioned run-on sentences because I feel like my posts are full of them..he he. Its interesting that you found my blog through Fordham University's graduate school..thats pretty amazing because I thought about going there at one time. Its nice to know that folks out there are reading my blog and inspired by my everyday simple thoughts and everyday experiences. I hope you continue to read my blog and comment, and perhaps share some spiritual experiences as well... take care : )
